Every six years, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) produces a river basin management plan for each river basin district within Northern Ireland. This is produced in partnership with the Department for Infrastructure (DFI).

Neagh Bann River Basin Management Plan: 2009 - 2015

The Neagh Bann River Basin Management Plan looked at all aspects of water management. It says where the water environment needed to be protected or improved, the timeframe to make these improvements and how that could be achieved. Consultation ran from 22 December 2008 until 22 June 2009 and the plan was published in December 2009.

Consultations following the first river basin management plan:

    1. Timetable and consultation arrangements for development of the second cycle RBMPs (22 December 2012 to 22 June 2013)

This consultation asked how NIEA can work better with a wide range of groups and individuals to deliver the first river basin management plans and develop the second river basin management plans.

    2. Significant Water Management Issues consultation (22 December 2013 to 22 June 2014)

The Significant Water Management Issues Overview Report for the Neagh Bann consultation sets out the assessment of the pressures and impacts on the water environment; describes the progress made towards achieving objectives for 2015; and explains the significant water management issues that still need to be addressed.

    3. Draft Neagh Bann River Basin Management Plan - 2014
